The Telenet - BBC Public Speaking Awards 2011
For the fourth time the Telenet-BBC Awards 2011 are organised by Telenet and the BBC with the support of the British Embassy, the British Council and under the auspices of the English Speaking Union - UK. The Awards are aimed at young people who strive to achieve excellence in English and make active use of the English language. This competition gives students the opportunity to express their opinions to a young audience, who like themselves are facing questions about their own lives and their hopes for the future. The Telenet - BBC Awards offer a great opportunity to 16 to 20 year old students to improve their skills in public speaking. It is a challenge to express opinions in English, and the experience of participating will certainly be useful in later years. The awards are certainly worth competing for. For exhaustive information go to http://www.bbcawards.be/. Last year Ken Demol from St-Jozefsinstituut Ternat managed to win the national final and went to London to represent Belgium in the English Speaking Union International Speaking Competition on 21 May.
